Thomas Tuchel has signed a contract extension to remain England manager until the conclusion of Euro 2028. The German's previous deal was due to expire after this summer's World Cup, which he took charge of in January 2025. The Football Association announced the new agreement on Thursday, February 12, providing clarity ahead of the upcoming tournament.
Tuchel, 52, stated his decision was largely due to the "group of players" at his disposal, according to reports. He expressed a strong connection to the team and the role, which he initially accepted on an 18-month contract to assess his suitability for international management.
Under Tuchel, England achieved a perfect World Cup qualifying record, winning all eight matches without conceding a goal. FA chief executive Mark Bullingham noted the extension secures a "world class coach" for the home Euro 2028 tournament, which will be staged in the UK and Ireland.
