Republic of Ireland to Play Israel in Nations League

Football

The Football Association of Ireland has confirmed the Republic of Ireland will fulfil their Nations League fixtures against Israel.

The Republic of Ireland men's national team will play their UEFA Nations League matches against Israel. The Football Association of Ireland (FAI) confirmed this decision following the draw in Brussels, which placed Ireland in Group B3 alongside Israel, Austria, and Kosovo. The FAI released a statement on Thursday, February 12, outlining their position.

This confirmation follows a motion passed by the FAI General Assembly in November 2025, which called for UEFA to suspend the Israel Football Association from European competitions. However, the FAI stated that UEFA regulations stipulate that a refusal to play a match would result in forfeiture and could lead to further disciplinary measures, including potential disqualification from the competition. The six group fixtures for the 2026-27 Nations League campaign are scheduled to take place between September and November 2026.
