Police Scotland is investigating reports of racial abuse directed at Rangers players Emmanuel Fernandez and Djeidi Gassama.

Police Scotland confirmed it is investigating reports of online racist abuse targeting Rangers defenders Emmanuel Fernandez and winger Djeidi Gassama. Both players shared screenshots of the offensive messages on their social media accounts following Sunday's Scottish Premiership match against Livingston. Fernandez joined the club from Peterborough United in January, while Gassama is a France Under-20 international.

A spokesperson for the force stated that enquiries are at an early stage. Rangers issued a statement condemning the abuse and confirmed it is providing support to the affected players. The club said it will work with the relevant authorities to identify those responsible. Per BBC Sport, the incident occurred after the Glasgow side's 2-0 victory at the Almondvale Stadium.

Livingston also released a statement saying the club would assist the police with any necessary information. This latest investigation follows a series of recent incidents involving online hate speech directed at professional footballers in Scotland.
