Former Aberdeen striker Arild Stavrum has endorsed Eirik Horneland as a suitable managerial candidate for the club. Stavrum, a fellow Norwegian, believes Horneland's "intensity" would make him "an interesting and a good appointment" for the Dons.
Horneland has emerged as a leading contender for the vacant manager's role at Pittodrie. The fifty-year-old recently left French side Saint-Étienne on his own terms last week. He was previously linked with the Aberdeen position in 2023.
Aberdeen sacked previous manager Jimmy Thelin at the beginning of the year, with Peter Leven currently serving as interim boss. Horneland reportedly has "unfinished business" in European football, which is an aspect of the Aberdeen job that appeals to him, offering potential for European league phase qualification. Aberdeen currently sits seventh in the Scottish Premiership. Horneland also has a strong relationship with Aberdeen's Sporting Director Lutz Pfanenstein.
