Hamilton Academical was docked six points by the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) on Thursday. The penalty was imposed for the club's failure to pay players' wages on time at the end of December 2025 and for defaulting on tax obligations to HMRC.
This latest sanction marks the club's third points deduction in the current 2025-26 season. Hamilton previously received a nine-point deduction in December 2025 for failing to acquire a bronze-level Scottish FA club licence.
An earlier six-point penalty was imposed in October 2025 for breaching a transfer embargo by paying players registered as amateurs or trialists. These combined deductions total 21 points this season, significantly impacting the club's position in Scottish League One.
The SPFL confirmed these breaches relate to the club's previous ownership, with a new board taking control in early January 2026.
