Wales midfielder Jess Fishlock is set to join Rhian Wilkinson's coaching staff for the opening international camp in March.

Jess Fishlock will join the Wales women's national team coaching staff for part of the international camp in March. The 38-year-old midfielder remains an active player but will assist head coach Rhian Wilkinson during the opening 2027 World Cup qualifier, according to BBC Sport. Fishlock currently plays for Seattle Reign in the United States and will depart the camp early to fulfil her club commitments.

Wilkinson confirmed the appointment as part of a wider coaching restructure for the national side. The Wales manager stated that Fishlock's experience would benefit the squad as they begin their qualification campaign. Fishlock has earned 154 caps for her country and remains a central figure in the playing squad despite this temporary move into a coaching role.

The Football Association of Wales announced the arrangement on Wednesday. It remains unclear if Fishlock will hold similar positions in future international breaks during the current qualification cycle. Wales are scheduled to face their first qualifying opponent on March 21.
