Dundee Utd face fixture pile-up on worn pitch

Dundee United will play four home matches in 14 days on their weather-beaten Tannadice Park pitch after a postponement request was denied.

Dundee United faces a demanding schedule of four home matches within a fortnight at Tannadice Park. The club's request to the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) for later rearrangement dates for two postponed Premiership fixtures was rejected. This decision means the already "weather-struck" pitch will endure significant use.

Heavy rainfall across north-east Scotland has caused "unprecedented levels" of strain on the Tannadice surface throughout recent winter months. Matches against Aberdeen and St Mirren were postponed due to waterlogging, as was a Scottish Cup tie versus The Spartans.

United's upcoming home fixtures include The Spartans on February 17, Kilmarnock on February 21, Aberdeen on February 24, and St Mirren on March 3. The SPFL reportedly aims to maintain sporting integrity within a tight title race and preserve future fixture slots.
