Dundee United edge out Spartans in Scottish Cup

Ten-man Dundee United secured a 2-1 victory over Spartans in the Scottish Cup fifth round at Tannadice.

Dundee United progressed to the Scottish Cup quarter-finals after defeating League Two side Spartans 2-1 on Tuesday, 17 February 2026. The home side endured an early setback when defender Iurie Iovu received a red card in the twelfth minute for a challenge on Cameron Russell.

Despite being a man down, United took the lead in the 31st minute through captain Ross Graham, who headed in from a Will Ferry corner. Amar Fatah extended Dundee United's advantage in the 55th minute.

Spartans substitute Mark Stowe reduced the deficit with a deflected shot in the 78th minute, setting up a tense finish. Dundee United held on to secure the win in front of 4,298 spectators. They will now face Premiership rivals Falkirk away in the quarter-finals on Friday, 6 March 2026.
