Luton Town assistant manager Chris Powell has discussed his 40-year career in professional football, according to BBC Sport. Powell began his journey as a trainee at Crystal Palace in 1984 before making his senior debut for the club in 1987. He earned five England caps during a playing career that included spells at Southend United, Derby County, and Charlton Athletic.
Following his retirement from playing, Powell moved into management and coaching. He led Charlton Athletic to the League One title in 2012 and held roles at Huddersfield Town and Southend United. Powell also served as a coach for the England national team under Gareth Southgate.
Outside of traditional coaching, Powell acted as a consultant for the television series *Ted Lasso*. He currently works as part of the coaching staff at Luton Town. Powell told the BBC that his passion for the sport remains strong as he continues his work in the Championship. He remains one of the most respected figures in the English game.
